The use of the battery dictates a lot about its autonomy time, which means that it can vary from one device to another. The autonomy time of your Smartphone can be found in the instruction manual. Based on that, here are 11 tips for you to make better use of your Galaxy's autonomy.

01 - Reduce screen brightness

Screen brightness set to high levels increases battery consumption. One of the simplest ways to reduce this consumption is to reduce the screen brightness:

1 - On home screen > swipe down from edge of screen to see notification panel

2 - Drag the brightness adjustment bar to the left

3 - At the same time, adjust the screen off time setting by selecting the gear icon in the top corner > Display > select Backlight Duration

4 - Select screen off time > Set desired time

Tip: Try setting the screen off time to 30 seconds and the screen brightness to Auto.

02 - Close, disable or uninstall unused applications

Some apps can run in the background and drain your battery, and the more apps running in the background, the more battery drain.

The fastest way to uninstall an app:

1 - On the home screen > press and hold the application icon

2 - Select Uninstall > Select OK.

For greater control over your apps:

1 - Go to Settings > Applications.

2 - Select the search icon (magnifying glass) in the upper right corner and search for the application.

3 - To uninstall, just select the application and then Uninstall.

Disable apps to increase battery life:

If some apps you want to uninstall cannot be uninstalled, you can disable them to save battery life.

1 - Go to Settings > Applications.

2 - Select the search icon (magnifying glass) in the upper right corner and search for the app you want to Disable.

3 - Finally select the application and then Force stop.

03 - Disable Always On Display (AOD) or set a schedule for this feature

Always On Display or AOD uses AMOLED screens to display some information when the screen is "off". It allows you to easily check basic information such as date and time without opening the display.

Naturally, any activity that keeps your screen running continuously will use battery power. You can choose to turn the AOD off or set a timer for the AOD to turn on/off.

To turn off AOD:

1 - Go to Settings > Lock Screen > Always On Display

2 - Tap the Enabled button to disable.

How to schedule activities for AOD:

1 - Go to Settings > Lock Screen > Always On Display

2 - Select the View as scheduled option, and set the desired time.

Attention: Not all devices have this function, check your Smartphone's manual if it has this function.

04 - Turn off WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS when not in use

If you're used to keeping these options always on regardless of use, the best thing to do is turn it off when you're not using it, as each detection of a signal will drain your battery.

To disable each feature just drag down the notification panel (from the edge of the screen) and pressing the corresponding icon.

05 - Open Battery Saver mode

Battery saver mode preserves battery capacity by limiting CPU performance to less necessary functions.

This feature varies from device to device, but generally closes all unnecessary apps and adjusts the screen to partially improve your battery life.

You can open power saving mode manually or set the device to open power saving mode automatically.

Go to Settings > Device & Battery Care > Battery > Power Saving Mode.

06 - Download the latest software update version

Check for the latest updated version for your device in Settings > Software Update > Download & Install.

07 - Check the operator's signal

Make sure your Galaxy is getting a good signal from your carrier while using data. Using the device in areas with very weak signals consumes more power as it requires a constant search for a signal and should be avoided if possible.

08 -Check how often your device syncs data

If you, like everyone else, have a large amount of apps on your device, like email or social media, those apps will either sync regularly or check for new emails and updates.

Frequent syncing can also decrease battery life and also increase data consumption. Check the sync settings in your apps or email and make sure they sync only when you need it.

To adjust the synchronization of accounts on your Smartphone, just go to “Settings” > “Accounts and backup” > “Manage accounts” and select the application you want to adjust the synchronization and go to “Synchronize the account” and disable the less necessary synchronizations.

09 - Avoid letting the device completely drain the battery

On older generation batteries, there is usually advice to encourage customer use until the battery is completely discharged.

However, completely draining the battery in modern smartphones can spoil its lifespan. Samsung recommends that the device be recharged when it reaches between 15% and 20% battery.

10 - Store the device with care

If you don't intend to use the device for a while and put it away, make sure the device has at least 50% battery left.

Minimize device exposure to hot and cold temperatures.

Extremely hot and cold conditions can damage your battery. For example, don't leave your smartphone in your car's glove compartment (or motorcycle trunk) during a very hot or cold day.

Some tips on the internet suggest that batteries last longer if placed in the freezer, but never do that, as it is completely wrong.

11 - Caring for your Galaxy

Here are some final tips to help you increase the battery life of your Samsung Galaxy device.

If you are in the habit of using portable chargers, only use quality, genuine charging accessories designated for your device.
